A New Center for Albany KTC
A New Center for Albany KTC
Founded in 1979 by the Venerable Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche, Albany KTC is the Karma Kagyu practice and study center in the capital region of New York State. For more than forty years, the center has offered meditation instruction, Dharma study, and group practice, becoming a place where many people first encountered the Dharma and found stability and comfort in their lives.
Now, due to various reasons, the center needs to move to a new location in the city of Albany. We’re excited to report that renovations to our new space are underway! As you can see from the photos below, walls, doors, countertops, ceilings, flooring and carpeting have been removed to make way for new construction. This was all done by volunteer members and friends of AKTC. Now we need to have the electrical work done by certified electricians and then inspected by the Town of Colonie. After that, we will need to build walls, install flooring and a handicap accessible bathroom as well as a small kitchen where we can make tormas and tea for ritual offerings.
We are trying to fundraise $30,000 to cover the renovation and moving costs and sincerely invite you to take part in this meaningful effort. Whether by becoming a member, making a one-time donation, or offering ongoing monthly support, your generosity will directly help us cover moving expenses, rent, and the many costs involved in establishing our new Dharma center.
